Kansas City based photographers specializing in telling your story, in a way that is unique to you.
Here at Dragon and the Butterfly Studios, you don’t have to worry about having to justify having nice pictures taken. We firmly believe that everyone should have access to affordable and high quality pictures and that is what I seek to provide. My mission is to provide a unique, luxurious professional photography experience, no matter the budget.
Dragon and the Butterfly Studios originally started as Dragon and the Butterfly craft Studios--a crafting company that my sister and I had started with plans to sell our wares on etsy. But when her day job became too consuming and my desire to sell crafts waned, photography became my new hobby which quickly transformed into a business. I didnt want to have to start all the way over with my facebook page, so I kept the name (named for my sister and I--shes the butterfly) and switched gears to something I had always loved and was ready to start getting serious about.
Honestly, I started this company as a way to make some extra money during a time when I was really struggling. But from the moment that I caught the smile of an 18 month old, I was hooked. It wasn't long after that I had taken a family photo shoot for my own family, when my mother told me how relieved she was not to have to spend money we didnt have on pictures she felt we needed. Since then, I have become determined to be the best option I can be for those who cannot afford the average prices of other photographers in this city but need and deserve updated pictures.
I brought on my best friend in the whole world, and fellow photographer Candace (also known as Candi) back in September of 2017. She had already been such a big part of everything I was doing and was going to nearly every shoot with me anyways, so we made it official! You can read her about me in the about section as well!
I do work a second job to pay the bills, so you never have to worry about prices jumping out of reach. I'm not here for your money. I'm here to capture your life, your story, and your smile.
At the end of the day, I can only hope my work speaks for itself in terms of quality and making you as happy as it possibly can for years to come. You have a story. We just want to help you tell it.
